Teaching approach

“According to linguists, there is an important distinction between language acquisition and language learning.“

Teaching  approach is of great importance for each student in mastering a foreign language  due to different levels of ability . “Ultimate language courses“, “Free online language courses“ , or “CD language courses“… Sounds familiar? Even a parrot can learn to repeat a few words without meaning or effective communication. Another mistake we are trying to avoid in our approach is mostly grammatically orientated course, filling in the blanks or mulitple choice exercises. Of course whilst knowledge of grammar is neccesary we are trying to achieve dosages of both grammar and conversation according to the students needs.  Grammar can and needs to be taught, but in a communicative context. In our adaptive approach and healthy classroom atmosphere, we are trying to step outside of an academic system of teaching. We put emphasis on communication in Croatian language from the very beginning of the course and also encourage students to develope their Croatian language skills(intonation,pronounciation,vocabulary,reading and writing, etc) to prepare them to be able to speak correctly.

CLC puts emphasis on:

 

  • Small groups (2-6)
  • Encouraging students to use Croatian as much as they can depending on whether they have the knowledge or not
  • All teachers are native speakers
  • Different techniques and teaching approach ( flexibile to students)
